His eyes widen and he soundlessly gapes as he hits the floor* Please, let him be alive...*Lan finds Ikshar in a pool of blood, gasping for air* Take the Ruby, Lan....Find out who you are....*Ikshar releases his last breath and goes limp in Lan's arms* Peace favor you, Ikshar. I will avenge your death. *he closes Ikshar's eyes and covers him with a cloak. Taking the ruby from a secret compartment he journeys to the Inn and goes to his room*

So, did you enjoy the innkeeper's company? Ikshar is dead, and the enemy of my friend took his life. We must assume they know what we are about. I have the Dragon's Ruby. Shall we go?

Suddenly the earth opens up and swallows Lan whole. Jaks is left staring dumbfounded at the place where Lan once stood. A cool breeze rustles his hair as a storm cloud breaks over his head--leaving him wet, shivering and friendless.
