Just so the rest of us have something to debate:
Question: Should people have guns?
Myself, I don't like guns. They only have one purpose, and that's to kill/hurt living things. Maybe the world would be a much better place if there were no guns, of any kind, anywhere in the world.
At first, they were supposed to be used for war, and it has been proven time and time again just how bad they are. The World Wars, which was really the first time guns were used in any serious way, resulted in more dead then any other wars EVER!
But not only that, but they have found thier way onto the streets. Guns in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland we made illegal after the Dumblane shootings, in which a gym teacher shot and killed his entire gym class. I think it would be really good idea just to ban guns everywhere! That way, nobody would have an excuse for owning a firearm, making the job of the police alot easier.
What do you guys think? I would love to hear your views.

Well lets see... guns huh?
Well, I personally don't think anybody should have a gun unless you are a poilceman or work for the F.B.I. or something like that. Prett much anyone who is anyone has a gun nowadays. (except for me) I don't like them and I wouldn't use one unless someone was about to shoot me or something then I would try to take it from them and point it at them, not saying I would shoot though.
Anyways, to me guns are pointless and all they do is cause trouble and hurt/kill people. They should just take them off the market and only the law inforcers should have them.

guns are not toys. guns are meant for killing things like songbirds and deer and spice girls and people who just wont leave your cult alone and women who dont realize your the best man for them. this may sound crazy but when your the one with the gun you decide whos crazy.
guns dont kill people. bullets kill people.
those were my 2 favorite gun realated quotes. i personally think that if you are responcible and can own a gun without the desire to kill people you should by all means have a gun to protect your house. other than that and hunting you shouldnt have a gun. mabey a sword but not a gun.

Hmm...a new debate?
Well, as Excel said, guns are illegal in England. As a result, the normal police don't carry firemarms. There is a branch of the police that is armed, but they are more like the English version of S.W.A.T. If guns were banned in the United States, gun crime would come down...and if guns were cleared from the streets completely, then not even the police would need them. If you create a system in which law enforcment and the military are the only armed groups in a country, then you essentially create a police state. So I can't agree with that.
Guns don't kill people, bullets kill people?
Actually, it's people who kill people, not guns or bullets. They are just tools that people use. So if you take away the tools, then you remove the means to kill by.
In my ideal world, the civil streets would be gun free...only the military would have them. Guns are starting to be replaced by missles anyway in war, and if we anexed all the guns, we would be fighting 10th century wars again (swords, bows and what not). It's farmore humane to use guns in war then swords.

I don't understand. How can it be humane to use guns? I just think that we should just get rid of guns altogether. That way, we might not have as many wars either.
Some people ARE responsible enough to have guns, and not use them, but if they are responsible enough to do that, then ithink they would be smart enough to give them up should the occasion call for it.

Oh now you dont it you got me pissed off
Firstly removing guns Bad idea.... Lets think about it those who break the law would continue to do so this would not stop with guns so in essance Bad guys would carry guns and good guys would give them up. this would make it harder for the honest hard working man to protect his proptery. Also by removeing guns your removing choice granted its just one but what would that led to... then there are so many guns out there it would be impossable, also there not going to give them up for free there going to want conpensation for them which would strain the encomy even more so then it is now. not to mention remove jobs and my main point CHOICE. SO chew on those facts for abit P.S. sorry about spelling

i do agree we need the freedom of choice. if i couldnt own a weapon i think id be pretty mad. also if somebody in england got ahold of a gun they could do some serious damage. think about it. if the cops dont have guns whats stopping them from taking out as many cops as possible.

Let me just say that Freethought speaks the truth. Think about it, crime would not go down, but just the opposite. Like Freethought said, if guns were banned, then people would still have them illegally. Those people would have guns, and the police would not...hmm.......................... That is not a good situation. How are police supposed to protect themselves then? Do they throw their billy clubs at them, use harsh language, threaten to tell the criminal's mother, shake their fingure at the criminal? Banning guns is a bad idea.

A total gun ban is exactly what america needs in my opinion. True, there would still be some people who would keep them illegally, but they would only be the hard core criminals. I can't believe that having guns freely avaliable to anybody to wants one is an anti crime measure.
There are of course, people who have guns illegally over here. But the police do a great job of controling everything. If there is the slightest hint that a suspect has an illegal firemarm, then the armed police are called to take care of it...just in case. There hasn't been a shooting in the news for along time now...and when there is, it's BIG news overhere.
I fell alot safer walking down the street knowing that the people around me aren't armed in any serious way.

Here's my deal. If you outlaw guns, we'd still have them. They'd be smuggled in thru Canada and Mexico. What you guys don't get is Mex. has a lot of American criminals that smuggle stuff into the States. If you outlaw it, it will increase demand, and put guns everywhere. I agree that they aren't pro-life, but when I turn 21, I'm getting a concealed weapons licence. I'm gonna carry one to protect myself and my girlfriend. Not that I need a gun for that, hey, Rauru? Remember our high school years?...that was fun...maybe I should be outlawed???

LOL Yeah how could I forget those years. They were AWESOME!!! Yeah you probably could be outlawed. I know I have already had people tell me that I'm going to be on America's Most Wanted someday.
And you know what, I'm not going to stop until I reach #1. Nah, jk, but think of what it would be like...

Listen guys (and girls), guns aren't the problem. If you take guns away from people, then people will just find another way to kill each other. It's an old cliche, but it remains true "Guns don't kill people. People kill people".

I guess that there will never be a gun ban in America no matter what happens , but please don't dismiss the idea. Banning guns really does work, and England is a good example of it. When the ban was first made law, alot of people argued the same things you guys are, but look at us now ^^ Gun free, and the number of murders and violents crimes dropped like a rock in water ^^. But then again, The United Kingdom is a MUCH smaller place to police, and we live on an island, so it's easier to enforce customs. If any of youever get the chance to come over to Engalnd someday, take it...you might like the feeling of walking around in a gun free environment.
