Timeline theory.

I don't know if there is anyone in this forum that will want to read all this and form an opinion from it, but I know there are many with opinions of their own. So I would like to hear your opinions about the order of the games and if you think there are many Links or if there is only one Link.

This is a timeline that me and another guy worked on together, so tell me what you think.

LoZ = Legend of Zelda
AoL = Adventure of Link
LttP = A Link to the Past
LA = Link's Awakening
OoT = Ocarina of Time
MM = Majora's Mask
OoA/S = Oracle of Ages/Seasons
WW = Wind Waker

Basic Outline:
0: Creation. (guessing that nothing much happened except the construction of the many temples and palaces in honor of the Goddesses)

115: Imprisoning War - Light Temple was created after Ganondorf Dragmire (known as that in the LttP manual) was killed by a hero, knights of Hylia, and Wise Men (Sages). The Triforce pieces of Power and Wisdom were placed there.

145: Adventure of Link back-story takes place – The Prince becomes a wise King, the Great Palace housed the past King's Triforce of Courage, the recombining of the Triforce took place in this era to fulfill what happened in Ocarina of Time.

440: Link and Zelda are born.

450: OoT - OoT future takes place.

457: Wind Waker future begins, but Link defeats Ganondorf and goes back in time, this erases the future and the events of Wind Waker.

450: OoT - present continues - Link has Triforce of Courage sealed in Great Palace for safekeeping. Ganondorf is sealed in the present void.

450: MM

455: OoA/S – Zelda is captured and brainwashed by witches, rescued by Link, Ganon is released, defeated but escapes, Ganon kidnaps Zelda and goes to Hyrule. Link follows.

455: LoZ takes place - Ganon is killed.

456: AoL – Sages awaken (earlier than in OoT since there is no evil force keeping them from hearing the call).

457: LttP – Link destroys Ganon’s spirit i nthe Dark World.

Detailed Outline (long read):
The Creation of Hyrule:
The Goddesses create Hyrule. The races build many monuments and temples to worship the Goddesses.

The Imprisoning War:
The races of Hyrule are corrupted by the Triforce legend, and the races declare war on each other. Months into the war the Goddess’s chosen race, the Hylians, discover a realm parallel to Hyrule. The Wise Men decide to study the realm before entering. Somehow, a group of skilled thieves that were experienced in black magic also found the realm. Though they found the realm by accident, the leader of the group decided to send an army into the realm to search for the Triforce. This man was named Ganondorf Dragmire a.k.a. Mandrag Ganon. When this evil man set foot into the realm, the Golden Land became the Dark World, since the realm reflects what is in the heart.

The Wise Men felt the realm turn dark, and when evil energy started to flow from the Dark World, the King sent an army into the realm to stop Dragmire. Many soldiers fought and died in the sacred realm. Fearing that the surrounding lands would be taken over, the other races of Hyrule came together and fought side by side against the evil Dragmire. Eventually the Triforce was found, but unfortunately Dragmire’s army found it. Dragmire saw the Triforce shining ahead of his army. In a greedy lust for the Golden Power he killed his own people and comrades to ensure that he made it to the Triforce first. With his hands stained with the blood of many, Dragmire laid them on the Triforce. Something unexpected happened however. The Triforce split apart, and only one piece remained for Dragmire. It was not known at first what part Dragmire withheld, but with it Dragmire’s army, while outnumbered, became stronger through this Triforce’s power.

The Hyrulian Army was beginning to lose ground. And so, the Hylians in the Light World used their magic to forge a Sword that was immune to any type of magic, including that of the Triforce. With the Master Sword created there was no time to lose. The people found a Hero that was of strong mind and body to wield the Master Sword. The Hero ran to the Wise Men’s portal to the Dark World. The evil armies were almost to the rift, only the Royal Knights of Hylia remained to defend the Wise Men. The hero ran through into the Dark World, and the King commanded the Wise Men to seal the realm off so that the evil war would not spill outside into Hyrule. The Wise Men sealed the Hero and Knights in the realm, as if locking the tamer into the cage with the lion. The people remembered this as the Imprisoning War.

The Hero cut through the evil army using the Master Sword. Amazed by the Sword’s Power, the Knights deemed it The Sword of Evil’s Bain. The Hero confronted the all-powerful warlock. Dragmire was infuriated at the Hero for destroying his army. Dragmire used the Triforce’s power against the Hero, but the Triforce failed to destroy the Hero. The Master Sword had protected him. After a long battle, the Hero gained the upper hand and sleighed the evil warlock Dragmire.
The Triforce rose from Dragmire’s hand and was free once again. The world celebrated their lives, and honored the many warriors who gave their lives for theirs. Hylians had fallen next to Zoras. Gorons had died along side Shiekah. This served to bring the races of the world closer together.

The Wise Men then created a seal called the Temple of Light. The Temple stood as a barrier to deter outsiders from entering the Realm. The people built the Temple of Time to commemorate the brave souls who saved Hyrule. The Hero set the Master Sword in the Pedestal of Time, inside the Temple of Time, then mysteriously disappeared.

The Imprisoning War was over, and the King of Hyrule wisely began his plan to unify the country by using the Triforce of Courage, which found it’s way to him when Dragmire touched the Triforce.

All was at peace, but greedy men still remained. The King’s own son, the Prince, was one of these. The King, a great ruler, maintained the peace in Hyrule using the Triforce. However, the king too was a child of man and he died. Then, the prince of the kingdom should have become king and inherited everything, but he could inherit the Triforce only in part. The Prince searched everywhere for the missing parts, but could not find them. Then, a magician close to the king brought him some unexpected news. Before he died, the king had said something about the Triforce to only the younger sister of the prince, Princess Zelda. The prince immediately questioned the princess, but she wouldn't tell him anything. After the prince, the magician threatened to put the princess into an eternal sleep if she did not talk, but even still, she said nothing.

In his anger, the magician tried to cast a magic spell on the princess. The surprised prince tried to stop him, but the magician fought off the prince and went on chanting the spell. Then, when the spell was finally cast, Princess Zelda fell on that spot and entered a sleep from which she might never awake. At the same time, the magician also fell down and breathed his last breath as the Prince thrust his sword into the magician's side.

In his grief, the prince placed the princess in a room and sealed it with the family's royal crest. He hoped that someday she would come back to life. So that this tragedy would never be forgotten, he ordered that every female child born into the royal household be given the name Zelda.

The reason that the Prince could not find the Triforce pieces was because the King had placed his Triforce of Courage in the Great Palace. The Triforce piece of Power, which Dragmire had left behind, was sealed in the Temple of Light by the Wise Men. The Triforce of Wisdom, went to Rauru. Rayru, the Ancient Sage and lead Wise Man, dedicated his life to watching over the Temple of Light. With the power of the Temple of Light and the Triforce pieces, Rauru would be able to watch over the Temple of Light without aging.[/b]

The Prince could only inherit the Triforce in part, and even then not control it completely. So the Prince went out to find the third Triforce.

Before his death, the King wrote a scroll. On it was written the location of the Triforce of Courage, and how to open the barrier protecting the palace. Also, it was written how to combine the pieces of the Triforce and restore it to completion. Before his death, the King cast a spell on Hyrule that one day a good man chosen by destiny would come to restore the Triforce.
The decades passed and the now wise prince, who had matured and became King, awoke one day after having a dream of his father telling him to combine the Triforce and place it in the Temple of Light. The young King consulted the Wise Men, and with them he pleaded to the Wise Hermit in the Great Palace. The Hermit did not trust anyone, but the presence and support of the Wise Men helped to persuade him. Seeing that the young King was wise enough and held the power of rule over Hyrule, the Hermit then tested the young King’s courage. The King then had to confront his own evil, manifested into his own shadow. After a long and trying battle, the King conquered his dark side, and the Hermit gave the King the Triforce of Courage to place back into its rightful resting place, The Sacred Realm.
The Wise Men magically moved the Triforce back to the Sacred Realm. There the Triforce pieces recombined, and so Rauru watched over the Temple of Light, which housed the Triforce in the Sacred Realm for roughly the period of 300 years.

Three or four generations later, the races were at peace. Only the Gerudo remained separate from the unified Hyrule. There was man that led the Gerudo, his name was also Ganondorf, named after the great thief of long ago that once claimed the Triforce. Ganondorf, a name while despised by Hylians, was honored of the Gerudo. (Not exactlly a multiple Ganon theory, the first Ganondorf may not have even been related to the Ganondorf of OoT, and certainly may not have looked like him. There is only one Ganondorf, but there was once another with that name. There is a difference, Dragmire controlled black magic theives, Ganondorf controlled women thieves.)

One day, Ganondorf attacked a town in Hyrule. A woman fled the burning town with her infant son Link. She was struck by an arrow and fatally wounded. She was able to make it to the enchanted forest however. The guardian spirit, The Great Deku Tree, sensed the woman and let her pass through the magical barrier of the Lost Woods. She fell down before the Deku Tree and asked it to take care of her baby boy, Link. She then passed away.

The Deku Tree felt that the boy was a child of destiny, and would be called upon one day to save Hyrule. The Deku Tree took him into the forest. There, Link grew up as a Kokiri.

OoT:
At age ten, Link set out to fulfill his destiny, and save the land of Hyrule.
Link pulled the Master Sword and opened the Sacred Realm and Temple of Light, which housed the Triforce. Ganondorf used this opportunity to enter the Realm and claim the Triforce. When he touched it, the Triforce split. The Triforce of Wisdom flew to Zelda, the Triforce of Courage went to Link whom was protected by the Sages Seal, and to Ganondorf was left the Triforce of Power. Ganondorf left the realm, and his reign of evil began.
Seven years passed for Link whom was kept in suspended animation. Link awoke in the Chamber of Sages as an adult. Rauru, the sage of light, told Link what had happened. Rauru said that ages ago the Ancient Sages built the Temple of Light to deter outsiders from entering the Sacred Realm. The Temple of Light, which was situated in the very heart of the Sacred Realm, was the resting place for the Triforce. (this is how we must deduce that the Triforce was restored after the AoL backstory, how else would it be complete in OoT?)
Link left the Chamber and discovered that the world had been devastated. Link began to awaken the other Sages so that he may gain the power to defeat Ganondorf.
After Link defeated Ganondorf and the Sages sealed Ganon in the Void of the Evil Realm, a dimension that was void of everything. Link closed the road between that future, and the present. Is what this did, was erase the evil future that Ganondorf had created.

If a man were to witness Link and Ganondorf entering into the Sacred Realm, that man would see Link pull the sword and open the realm, Link be swallowed up by the blue light, Ganondorf enter into the light. The Triforce of Wisdom leaves the light and flies to Zelda. The realm closes, and Link emerges from it to close the door of time. Link’s journey through time was experienced, but only by two people, Link and Ganondorf. For the ones outside of the influence of the Temple of Time’s magic, Link’s journey would be instant and unknown. Since Link, the Hero of Time, went back to the original time while Ganondorf was sealed in the Void of the Evil Realm in the original time also, Link continued his journey and thus overwrote the erased future.[/B]

Wind Waker:
This is what would have been if Link had decided to stay in the future, then left for another land or died. The Triforce of Courage would have been shattered, and no hero would be there to save the future Hyrule from Ganon. The world would have been flooded and Hyrule would have died as well. Evidence of this is seen in both the Master Sword's and the Triforce of Courage's existance in the future. These can only exist here if Link stayed i nthat timeline with them. However, since Link left with both of these, it is impossible for them to exist in that timeline. Thus, since Link did go back in time, he erased the future from happening.

MM:
Link told only Zelda about what transpired in the future, and explained why she now had the Triforce of Wisdom. Zelda had thought that Link succeeded in keeping the Triforce out of Ganondorf’s reach, but when she heard the story of the destroyed Hyrule, the Gorons, and the unfortunate Zoras, she began to understand that Ganondorf would return one day. Even though only Link and Ganondorf had knowledge of that future and there was no way to prove that it really happened, Zelda’s faith in Link and the sudden disappearance of Ganondorf was enough for her to believe Link. However, Link asked that the future events not be brought up with anyone else except for Impa, who Zelda could trust unconditionally.

Link stayed in Hyrule for a little while to educate himself in the castle’s library. During this time it seemed that the King now believed in Zelda’s visions. Though the King had not experienced the future, he did experience everything up to the point when Link pulled the Master Sword. Before that, Ganondorf had caused a commotion in the castle in an attempt to kidnap Zelda. The King was overjoyed to see his daughter safe and sound and admitted that he should have listened to her and had been more cautious. Link thought it would be best to give the Triforce of Courage to the King, just in case he never made it back from his next quest. The King did not want to keep the Triforce of Courage since his daughter had the Triforce of Wisdom and he feared it would make them to much of a target. However, the king agreed to take it and place it in the Great Palace where it had been set many years ago, for safe-keeping.

A few months passed, and Link next embarked on a quest to find his guardian fairy Navi. He said his goodbye to Zelda, whom knew that they would both meet again some day. Link first went to the Lon Lon Ranch where Malon gave Epona to him. Link next searched the area of the woods far to the north of the castle, the direction in which Navi flew off toward. Link encountered the Skull Kid who was armed with a powerful mask. Link fell into a world parallel to Hyrule. In the land of Termina, Link fought against the evil power of the cursed mask. Link destroyed the evil and saved the land from destruction.

OoA/S:
After returning from Termina, Link searched the forests of Hyrule. Unknown to Link, he was about to cross into another dimensional rift in Hyrule. One night, Link slept under a tree in the woods. Link had a dream about a castle. In the dream Link entered the castle and was sucked into an alternate dimension. During his unconsciousness Link dreamt of the Triforce. When he awoke he found that two unbalances in nature and time caused by two evil tyrants had drawn him there. [/B]
(It must have been a dream since the Triforce was never complete and placed in Hyrule Castle, and Komue and Kotake are alive as well.)

After defeating Veran and Onyx, and correcting the problems, Link found something horrible in this land. Koume and Kotake who were killed by Link in the future were still alive! Since they died in a future that never existed and lived in a time that was true, they were once again able to use their black magic in vile ways. The sisters used the distortions in time and space of that land to break the Sages Seal over the Void of the Evil Realm.

It was like directing a river at a stone wall. The powerful energy that was being created from the rifts greatly weakened the Sages Seal, but it was not enough. Because the seal was weak in that dimension it was easier to break for the combined power on the Witches, but only if a life were to be sacrificed. The Witches planned on using Zelda for their dirty work, much like they had used Nabooru in the past. Link was able to save Zelda however, and the Witches then sacrificed themselves in order to weaken the seal. Ganon used the Triforce of Power in the void to rip the cracks in the seal open and release himself. However, thanks to the intervention, experience, and determination of Link, Ganon was defeated. The power used to break the seal had drained Ganon immensely, and so he could only barely escape the finishing blow from Link.

Zelda had been brainwashed by the witch sisters, and did not remember anything of what happened, but when they died the spell was lifted and Zelda came back to her senses. She thanked Link and left with Impa to go back to Hyrule. However on the way back, Ganon captured Zelda and fled for his mountain stronghold in the Far East Death Mountain range. While Zelda was being carried by Ganon through the sky, she took the Triforce of Wisdom from her hand and split it into eight units. She cast them into the land below and each found it’s way to a palace where the magical aura was strong.

LoZ:
Since the Sages of the OoT future did not become sages in the true time until after Ganon had already escaped, the Sages Seal over him could not be reinforced by their power. Since no one expected Ganon to return so soon, Impa was not prepared for Ganon’s next attack. Ganon sent a band of moblins to stop Impa while he made away with Princess Zelda, and took her to a secluded land far off from Hyrule's main land or central region.
After Link had set everything right in the lands of time and seasons, he used the magic harp and rod items to return him to Hyrule. Link was concerned for Zelda, and he made haste back to Hyrule to meet her. Unfortunately, Link found that Ganon had already made it back to Hyrule before him and sealed himself away in the darkness of his stronghold with Zelda.[/B]

After saving Impa from aggressive moblins, Link learned that Zelda had separated her Triforce into 8 untis. Link gathered the units and planned to use the power of wisdom to reveal Ganon who was hiding in the darkness. Link launched a counter attack on Ganon’s stronghold fortress inside Pinnacle Rock, Link killed Ganon using the silver arrows, obtained the Triforce of Power, and saved Zelda.

From then on, the 15-year-old Link who had become much more than a boy, was honored by the King of Hyrule, Zelda’s father. Link asked that he not be recognized by anyone else for his accomplishments The King, who was impressed by Link’s selflessness, respected his request.
Also, by this time, the Sages were beginning to hear the awakening call from the temples to become sages.

AoL:
Link and Zelda agreed that in order to keep the Triforce safe they should return the Triforce pieces to the Sacred Realm, they did so. Thinking they would never be sought after by evil ones seeking the power of gold, Zelda returned to the castle and Link helped to rebuild the towns. The Triforce of Courage had been placed in the Great Palace, a temple built by a Great King of long ago to house the Triforce of Courage, and sealed away by the stones that the King created long ago, for safe-keeping.

The months passed and the towns around Hyrule were rebuilt. Some towns were built in honor of the Sages.

Link was approaching his 16th birthday, the crest on his hand began to shine. The spell that the Great King of long ago cast on Hyrule had finally fulfilled itself again by choosing Link to recombine the Triforce pieces. Impa found Link and instructed him to place his hand over the sealed door of the North Castle. Impa told him the story of the Great King’s daughter, and how long ago she was cursed by her own brother and put into an ageless sleep. Link realized that the only way to awaken her was to use the power of the Triforce pieces.

Link did not want to recall the Triforce of Courage from the Great Palace that soon, since he knew that it might give evil ones an opportunity to seize control of it. However, Link felt compelled to help this girl who lie asleep. Link decided that it was best for Zelda’s ancestor to be awakened, because she too was a victim of the evil that plagued Hyrule.

Link took a map of northern Hyrule and set out to recover the Triforce of Courage to break the curse on Zelda.

However, this gave Ganon an opportunity to resurrect himself. If Link were to die during the quest, his minions could collect his blood and sprinkle it on Ganon’s ashes to bring him back from the dead.

Link preformed his quest flawlessly however, and recovered all pieces of the Triforce to bring this Zelda out of her sleep.

When Link returned, Zelda was overjoyed that Link had succeeded, and see her great aunt safe and sound. The King was in Link’s debt once again, and so in a private ceremony, the King knighted Link and deemed him The Hero of Hyrule.

Link requested that his deeds go unrecognized by the nation, since he wished to remain humble and not be sought after by the masses.

Madame Zelda was thankful for her life, and began her new life in the new Hyrule almost 400 years after she was put into her sleep.

LttP:
Link and Zelda returned the complete Triforce to the Sacred Realm, and moved the Master Sword to a new location, in case Link had to ever use the sword again. They thought, that because the Triforce was back in the Temple of Light that it would be safe. Especially since all 7 sages had been awakened by destiny to watch over the temples and the Chamber of Sages. With the world at peace, Link set out to find people that knew about his family, and he found his long lost uncle. [/B]

By moving the Master Sword to a new location, the ancient magic of the Sword created three pendants that acted much like the Spiritual Stones did for the Door of Time. In the pedestal where the Sword was set, its legend was written in the ancient language of the Hylian people, the same people that forged the Sword.

After a while, Hyrule fell under harsh conditions. Fearing that it was a sign that the great cataclysm was coming, the King issued a reward to anyone that could quell the plagues and weather. A wizard named Agahnim came to Hyrule and used magic to stop the storms and plagues. The king gave him a position as high wizard. Over the next few months Agahnim started performing experiments in the tower of a far away castle still located in Hyrule. He then started abducting descendants of the Wise Men who long ago were the Ancient Sages and created the Temple of Light to protect the Triforce. These Ancient Sages were the very same ones that Rayru told Link about when he was in the Chamber of Sages.

Agahmin brainwashed the soldiers, and killed the King.

Link collected the pendants and reclaimed the Master Sword. With it he broke the spell over the castle and attacked Agahnim.

Agahnim had been going back and forth through the Sacred Realm undetected for the past months, and it was his presence in the realm which turned it into the Dark World. After sending Zelda into the sacred Realm, Agahnim used the magical properties of the maidens to tear the Temple of Light down. After he turned the realm into an evil world, released the Triforce from the protection of the Sages, and constructed the Pyramid of Power around the Triforce, Agahnim moved his master Ganon’s spirit into the dark world to gain power and strength. Link was sent there as well when he attempted to save Zelda.[/B]

Link saved all of the maidens and killed Agahnim, it was then he found out that the wizard was merely Ganon’s slave. Link chased Ganon to his pyramid of power and destroyed Ganon’s spirit. Now, there was no coming back for Ganon, or was there?

After using the Triforce to restore Hyrule back to the way it was before, Link set sail across the Great Hylian Sea. Link chose to leave the Triforce in the Sacred Realm, since he knew that no man should control the laws of the universe.

LA:
Link’s raft is caught in a storm. Link is knocked out and wakes up on a mysterious island. Link’s dreams merge with the dream of the Wind Wish who is being kept asleep by a nightmare monster. Link wakes the Wind Fish by destroying the nightmare and is now drifting on a piece of wood. To be continued…

This is the OLT. In my opinion, this is by far the most accurate, interesting, and believable timeline. All bolded parts are important facts that can be found in other games, and all parts in italics are fill-ins and are strictly my opinion based on fact and deductive reasoning. Bolded italic parts are my theory based on fact, and (italics) are side notes.

for one its a collosal waste of time. for a second thing it seems to be the main thing luigi posts on. there is a whole board to explore. you might want to delve into it a little more.
